Avenue Animal Hospital offers the latest diagnostic equipment to aid in diagnosing / evaluating your pet quickly. We offer digital radiography and ultrasound evaluation.
A radiograph, commonly called an x-ray, is a black and white two-dimensional image of the body. Radiographs allow us to examine the outline of organs and bones. This can help in diagnosing heart disease, lung disease, tumors, bladder stones, gastrointestinal obstruction, fractures and other conditions. These images are easily stored as a part of your pet’s electronic medical record and can be sent via email to other locations as needed or transferred to a CD.
Ultrasound studies of the abdomen and heart (echocardiogram) are often helpful in providing more information about specific conditions. Dr. Harris and Dr. Johnson have undergone advanced training to gain experience and skills using this diagnostic tool. While radiographs allow us to see the outline of organs, ultrasound allows us to look inside them and evaluate how they function.
