Avenue Animal Hospital performs a variety of surgeries in-house. As an AAHA-accredited hospital, we have trained staff members perform anesthesia and use the following pieces of equipment when surgery is performed on your pet:
All surgical patients are given a physical exam prior to the procedure. If any concerns are identified, you will be contacted. Each patient will have an IV catheter with fluids during the procedure to maintain blood pressure and to provide IV access in case of an emergency.
- Respiratory monitor: measures your pet’s breathing
- Pulse oximeter: measures the amount of oxygen in your pet’s blood
- Blood pressure monitor: measures your pet’s blood pressure
- Continuous electrocardiograph (ECG or EKG) monitor: measures your pet’s heartbeats
